Proper speed for applying wax with a Swix T-60 Wax Roller

Waxing a Head race ski using a Swix Waxing Machine

When doing Swix tuning clinics, I get asked all the time “What’s the proper speed to move the ski when using the wax roller to apply wax?”

This video shows the proper speed - a nice slow, steady pace - similar to the same speed you use with a traditional iron. On your first pass using the Swix T-60 waxing machine for the day, don’t forget to give the roller a quick little spin with the tip of your ski (as shown in video) to make sure wax is fully melted and roller is rolling freely. If you get a nice clean coat across the entire ski on the first pass - that’s all you need! If you don't, go ahead and give it another pass, it will likely just mean some additional scraping.

Watch this (32 second) YouTube Short for the full tutorial.

After watching this video and trying this yourself, if you are having problems with thick or uneven wax application, check out this video and post: Troubleshooting: Thick or Uneven Wax Application Using a Wax Roller.
